A snowboard that's still going
A retired snowboard turned into a table in 2001, still in use beside an outdoor bath in Greece.

In 2001 a friend of mine had a snowboard he loved but couldn't use any more, and he didn't want to let it go. He asked if I could turn it into a table, and I said leave it with me.

The design was kept simple: a pair of bent steel legs and a varnished plywood shelf underneath. The hardest part was finding someone willing to bend just one or two legs. I modelled it up, cut the ply at home, and fixed the legs through the top of the board. It's left a couple of screws showing, which I'd avoid now, but that board was never going back on a mountain.

Twenty-five years later it's still in use. My friend moved to Greece and took it with him, the ply has been stained a lot darker, the legs have weathered and it now sits outside next to an outdoor bath. He still gets a lot of joy out of it, and I love that it's still earning its place.

Send me a couple of photos and rough measurements of the space that isn't working, and we can talk it through on a short video call.
